Geography
Split by the tallest peaks of En, Mara has two distinct regions. Northern Mara is tundra and frozen lake while Southern Mara is dense rainforest. Both sections have a negative effect on those who enter with magic, yet another reason Mara is left generally undisturbed.
Politics/Culture
Mara is a mysterious place as very few have spent any time in it and the Marans never leave. What little is known of the Marans comes from the persistent curiosity of Mara’s Literan neighbors. The Maran of the north are known as Mother Tribe and live a nomadic lifestyle, following the migration of the caribou. In the rainforest of the south, the Father Tribe has more permanent settlements. While there do appear to be some sort of tribe leader, the Marans seem free of any particular governing organization.
